For years I've feared the mandate by my employers to supplement my teaching with the gay agenda. I've always contended that though I abhore that lifestyle and believe it to be a destructive force against any society, I've also noted that how a person lives their personal lives is between them and God. I don't want to be in the postition of telling someone else what is right for their personal lives.
That said, I will not discuss with students the issue of what makes a family a family. That subject is best left to families. As educators, it is our job and should be our objective to teach academic content to students. Therefore, if my school district asks me to teach or in any way discuss the gay lifestyle, abortion, or religion, I will not do so.
Finally, someone with some influence has taken a leadership role in this regard. Go to the links page on my site and read, "The Manhattan Declaration." What's at stake here is life, family, and religion.
I've been asked to do a booksigning at Borders next month. I'll announce the date when it is confirmed, and I'd love to see you there!
